You Just Have To Love Gourmet Fudge

By Lisa Clark

When it comes to various desserts, the one called fudge is just perfect for any day, but during Christmas holidays, you simply have to have some on your table. It is so easy to prepare, and brings out so much pleasure. There are probably hundreds of tasty combinations, but gourmet fudge with chocolate is something you just cannot make a mistake with.

There are so many wonderful recipes for this lovely dessert, and some are especially easy to prepare. For example, this one. You will need two or three tablespoons water and a cup of sugar. Simply combine and melt over low heat. Once it becomes a syrup, add three cups chocolate chips and, when it all becomes a smooth mixture, also one half cup of butter. Spread this mixture into the pan and wait until cold. Cut into cubes and enjoy.

Most recipes include condensed milk. You can use unsweetened version if you like, depending on your taste. The addition of peanut butter will make things even more irresistible. So, combine three cups melted chocolate with one small can condensed milk, add one cup of peanut butter and spread it into the pan, previously lined with foil or parchment paper. Leave the mixture in the fridge until cold and hard.

So, now you know how to prepare this basic peanut fudge. It's easy to make it more interesting. For example, you could simply sprinkle this warm mixture when you pour it into the pan with white chocolate chips or with crushed peanuts. These ingredients really love each other, and taste great together, but you can add anything you want.

Another ingredient that will taste great combined with chocolate is caramel. Pour two cups sugar into the pan and leave it on low heat to caramelize. Add one can condensed milk, unsweetened in this case, and stir. Combine with three cups previously melted dark chocolate. To make it all smoother, add one spoon of butter, or peanut butter, and add other ingredients of your choice, for example vanilla syrup, different nuts, dried fruit or something else.

One can condensed milk should be enough for three cups of chocolate chips. Although, there is a slight difference between dark, milk and white choco chips, and your fudge might be slightly harder when using for example darker chips. In any case, you can simply melt milk and chips in your microwave to make perfectly tasty fudge, and then add other ingredients of your choice.

If you use white chocolate instead, you can also play with different colors, for some special occasions. For example, for Saint Patrick's Day, you could make a basic recipe using white chocolate, and add some mint extract. Another idea for making it all green is to use pistachios instead, both in preparing the mixture, and sprinkling them over.

Unsweetened condensed milk and dark chocolate, with a hint of salt and some chili powder make a great combination for people who prefer spicy tastes. This dessert is so easy to prepare that anyone can do it. Once you make this basic mixture, use your imagination to create interesting and even tastier combinations and enjoy.
