Martial arts is a form of hand combat that involves systematic and well-coordinated moves. This form of fighting originated from China. It is one of the earliest forms of fighting and has developed over time though it still has the traditional twist. This form of art is largely linked to the Buddhism religion that is widely practiced in China.

This form of fighting has survived the passing of time and is still widely practiced today. It is mostly practiced for a number of reasons. This reasons include self-defense purposes, military purposes, law reinforcement applications, metal or spiritual development and as well as entertainment and preservation of a particular place cultural heritage. It can only be done by highly skilled and experienced people.

Special training is required for an individual to be able to perform this type of combat. There are several testing and evaluations required during training. The reason as to why evaluations are done is to enable the trainee to become a pro and gauge their skills. This enables the trainer to know the level of skills acquired by the trainee and their progress. A winner usually has to be found when a competition is held. Testing is carried out in periods. A trophy is awarded to the winner and they also move to the next level of training.

Martial art involves so many things that usually include both internal and external skills thus making it complex. It requires being intelligent with high psychological ability. One needs to be wise than the enemy when using it for defence. People with training usually have a specific way of conducting themselves. For instance, how they sit, eat, and walk can tell something about their discipline. It is also possible for people to change their entire lifestyles to mimic that of Chinese, Koreans, or Japanese.

There is also the full contact type of combat. In this form a series of movements are used raging from the light to medium force the aim being to knock a person down or force an opponent to submit. Martial art is very competitive and evolved to a whole lot of types. Some of these include judo, taekwondo, and western archery, and boxing, javelin, wrestling and fencing. It is actively practiced in tournaments across the world.

Trainees have a lot to benefit from the this sport. Mental, emotional, spiritual health and physical health are some of the ways that trainees can benefit from training. Physical fitness of a person is boosted by movements involved in training. Stamina, flexibility and the strength are also boosted. Physical fitness of a person improves when they engage in activities that involve moving the whole body.

Martial art is a nature of art. The movements are like a dance that have an emotional touch to it. The movements communicate information and they also express inner emotions of a person. It has been and still is being applied in military defense and law enforcement.
