When it comes to the management of ovarian cyst rupture, there are different options.

Ovaries are the small organs which are shaped like ovals and located at the lower sections of the female body. Each month, they get to release eggs. Further, they do produce two main hormones-progesterone and estrogen. These hormones are play a role on growth of breasts, menstrual cycle and pregnancies. There are various reasons for the growth of cysts but most are harmless.

When they rupture, there might be no symptoms at times, or the symptoms might be mild. When the symptoms are only mild, they can be managed using painkillers. Imaging tests like ultrasound can be used in looking at cysts. There are times when the cysts get raptured and come with severe symptoms. That includes severe pain at the lower belly or bleeding. When that is the case, treatment will be needed immediately. You will need to go to hospital and might be given intravenous pain medicines. That is done using needles inserted in the veins.

There needs to be proper management of of cysts which break open because they could lead to lots of bleeding. If the situation is more severe, the blood loss could result in less blood flowing into other organs. It could even lead to death but that is very rare. Most cysts will get ruptured when the person is involved in strenuous exercises or sexual activity. If a person has conditions which makes them to bleed with ease, there will be need to go for surgery.

There are various types of cysts but the commonest are functional cysts. They occur only in women who have not reached menopause. This type will happen when an egg is not released from the ovaries during ovulation. They are the most common cysts to rupture.

Severe cases of the cysts will need to be rectified using surgery. The surgical procedure might be needed as an emergency. The surgery should ideally be minimally invasive. A laparoscopy is the best option in most instances. It involves using small incisions. The other option is a standard procedure in which larger incisions are needed. While all surgeries have risks, the greater risk would be for one not to go for it. The risks include blood clotting, bleeding or scars tissues might occur.

It is also important to consider what should happen after the cysts have been managed. In case the situation is very complex, you will be allowed to continue with treatment at home. The pain which results can go away after a number of days. In case that pain gets worse, you should contact a service provider.

If the broken cyst is complex, you will need some hospital stay. You will be asked to stay at the hospital for one day or more. There should be follow-up for imaging tests.
